Psoriasis and Vitiligo
We feature the largest outpatient phototherapy center in the Carolinas, providing state-of-the-art light treatment therapy for vitiligo, psoriasis and other light responsive dermatoses. Modalities for treatment available include: Broadband UVB, PUVA, and hand/foot PUVA, UVA and UVB wand and XTRAC ultraviolet laser. The XTRAC Laser offers the only truly effective treatment of vitiligo and one of the best treatments for psoriasis.

Skin Cancer and Precancerous Lesions
Any lesion on the skin that bleeds, especially more than once, is probably skin cancer. Suspected skin cancers should be biopsied as soon as possible.

Precancerous lesions are frequently noticed as rough scaly pink or reddish patches in sun- exposed areas that stay in the same place for several weeks. These can be treated with cryotherapy or topical medications.

Modified Mohs skin cancer surgery is specialized skin surgery that conserves as much normal tissue as possible and is usually used for facial or large tumors. Mohs surgery offers the lowest possible recurrence rate and generally the best cosmetic result. We also pay careful attention to minimizing pain.

Acne Therapy
Current therapy for acne can clear even the most severe cases. Treatment can be tailored to produce much better results and less irritation than OTC products. Accutane treatment is available for both women and men with severe or recalcitrant acne. We also treat adult female acne.

Wart Treatment
Most warts respond to gentle cryotherapy (freezing with liquid nitrogen). Topical anesthetic cream can make wart treatment comfortable for small children.

Eczema, Rash, Dermatitis
We specialize in diagnosing and treating any skin condition; no matter how long it has been present and regardless of how many treatments have failed. We never give up and can nearly always get to the bottom of any skin problem.

Dysplastic Nevi, Suspicious Lesions, Malignant Melanoma
People with a personal or family history of melanoma or funny looking moles should have the pigmented lesions evaluated periodically. Many moles can be removed without suturing.

Occupational Dermatoses, Contact Dermatitis
Dr. Hoffman specializes in identifying the causes of workplace dermatitis. Many people with chronic hand dermatitis or chronic itchy rashes are allergic to some chemical, preservative or fragrance. Patch testing is a painless method of looking for these kinds of allergies. Finding the cause and avoiding it will lead to a cure of even the most longstanding problem.
